Something Wicked This Way Comes has minor aspects of feminism in it. The way that the married men stare into the ice sculpture's depiction of the most beautiful woman in the world is just a minor glimpse into how women were treated in that society. It shows how even men who were married (such as Will's dad) could be mesmerized by an imaginary woman. This shows how women could easily be replaced. Just toys to men's affections and hate. Yet the women are also depicted strong. Such as in Jim's mother. She is single, a housewife, and is still able to take care of a rambunctious kid like Jim. Jim is an explorative trouble maker. Yet Jim's mother is still able to handle him. This woman is also subject to feminism. Only reverse feminism. She is exactly as strong willed and tempered as a man and woman together. She is willing to play both roles so that her child can grow up safely. This only proves the point that feminism is evident in this novel. It shows that men didn't regard women highly, and also that some women wouldn't deal with the persecution of men. Showing both sides of a double-edged sword.

Something Wicked This Way Comes also has slight aspects of a Queer atmosphere around it. Will and Jim do pretty much everything and are always hanging out. This kind of a strong, close relationship is what is resembling the Queer atmosphere the most. The two boys are always going on adventures together and finding all sorts of things to get into. With the news of a carnival coming to town, this only sparked their interest to want to pay a visit to this new attraction. Of course, having the boy-like curiosity, the boys head down to the carnival. After seeing all of the mysterious things there, their need to understand what is going on was at an all-time high. Since the boys were best friends and stuck with each other, they were able to fulfill their curiosity. From the beginning of the book to the end, the boys stay together and meet their goals. This shows that they have a strong connection and relationship and proves the Queer point. It takes a strong a devoted connection to pursue what those boys went through. It also connects with the point that “queer” is mainly used by the white and middle class, which is what the novel mainly consists of.

Something Wicked This Way Comes has aspects of most theories. The feminist/gender roles side (How men are treated somewhat better than women and vice versa.) The queer theory (how Jim an Will are always with each other and how they have like an internalized sense of what the other is going to do.) And even the minority studies theory (how people other than whites are not recognized within the novel, showing that the book is more centered around a white society.) Which even ties into Marxism (saying that people of other ethnicities are less important. Saying that they are of a lower class than whites socialites with money.) In essence, this novel covers most of the theoretical grounds on which we stand. It consists of almost every theory that one could state. There are certain theories that are more prominent such as the queer theory with the relationships of Will and Jim, and the feminist with the subjugation of women and how women also fight back against it. Then other theories have to be dug for. Those such as the Minority Studies Theory and the Marxism theory. These theories are mostly about how either ethnic groups get left out or people of a different working class. Both of these theories could be used to explain the lack of other ethnic groups other than whites in the novel.
